Fendrod 48hours (When it doesnt happen)

By Team AP
Hey all and welcome to the weekly blog :)  to tell you whats been happening ill start with todber manor, Team Anglers Proifle was invited to fish little hayes exclusivly friday the 28th may to the 30th thats a whole week before it's open to the public to fish! >< so we are all set to go and the night before excited in the morning bad news strikes, Simon: Dad has car crash (ouch!) Mike: stuck in blackpool (huh!) so its only me left so I have a quick rethink I ring todber and explain situation they happy I ring simon he says he will fish fendrod in swansea as that is where he lives so I am up for that and the 48 hours begin and team AP are back on the road :D

I set up and simon does on the far right hand side of the lake near the off limits area, get the rods in with the cell and activ-8 and Simon gets on the CC-Moore  no runs around the whole lake what so ever its looking crap the weather is great but not for carp, Luke hayes on our left hand side pulls a tench out and that seems to be the only fish of the day so me and Simon order a massive kebab, get stuck in then sleep the night waiting for that screemer.

1am: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEP!......ZZZ......BEEP!
I wake up on the last fliping beep thinking its a line bite I was so comfy I couldnt be botherd to check I dosed back off to wake up to the morning rain absolutely tipping it down but not to worry I was dry and safe in my bad boy fox ranger 2.5man :) I rebait both rods casting them right out as I goto bait my left one the rod that had the run I was snagged in the trees loosing all end tackle -.- great! (ponter to mysef: get up next time your reciever beeps)

So the day gos on and one of Simons mates a local boy called rhys joins us on peg 31 and decides to tackle the hard water near the lillys, within half an hour Rhys pulls a nice 5lb common nothing of size but it was a fish.

While I am filming some footage of the lake I drop my danm BlackBerry in the lake, just what I needed so Simon sent me on a mission to get a pack of whole grain rice from tesco, then I put my BB in the pakcet of rice and within the 24hours of us catching nothing and having another kebab my BB woked :D happy days, go Simon!

And as you can guess I blanked but Simon actually caught a 4lb eal and an 11lb bream, Mr Hayes caught a few more carp, Im sure you will see the pics soon but to conclude this is my first blank of the year, you were the first to know ;D

The day go's by and we are not really seeing any fish (off course that is excluding all the 1000's of doggys) no summer cod or whiting or bass :/ just dogs -.- so we all pack up in the end Joe is happy hes got food (known as rock salmon) we are happy cause we caught fish and had a laugh, nothings better than being with m8's.

Team AP Dominate's The Swansea Ocean

By Team AP
Mr Robbins a new member of Team AP who will shortley recieve his hoody after earning the respect of AP Corp took me Ben Phillips out for a day on the Blue Dolphin also know as jay's boat, I goto jays house to pick him up at 8.30 we headed of to the tackle shop but realised we forogt the moneySo we headed back to get it and then got our bait, Sand eal, bluey, makrel, squid all good stuf for the monster fish lerking around Swansea waters, we set out sail and jay using his gps router took us to some private marks that only he and his crew know, he wouldnt give out too much details for obvious reasons, we got out 20 miles and got the rods out over the boat, Jay went through some tips with me as I am a carp boy it was a bit differant maybe a bit to ruff for you other carpers, I slung the bait over the boat and jay did straight away we pulling the doggys in, infact we were ragging them in as they kept taking our makrel but enough about doggys time went on we were chilling eating bacon listining to the radio having a good chat, then we started to pull more doggys in with whateva bait we used there was a doggy then the whiteing started to bite but no big ones we were just pulling all rods in I had 2 doggys on my last one:

Were jay had something very speacial on his rod, not only does it have a shell but also a crushing claw and weighing in at 6.9lb making an exspensive meal......LE LOBSTER.

So after a good day of catching fish and shell fish ;D we decided to pack up head back to the marina scrub the boat down and head to the fish mongers ;D.

Fishing line??<<<

By Team AP

SOOOOOOOO we have had the big boys on tv telling us what line to get and you have your m8's telling you not what to get but are your m8's going by what they say on tv and are you thinking that the tv guys are wrong because they are getting paid and the forum tell you this and that and because a human posted a comment saying this is crap ir good you beleave that commetn because they took the time to post it over the internet??? CONFUSED???

Exactley! the problem, these days the tackle market in all fishing genres is driven by word of mouth as everyone in theory is a field tester you all buy the product and use it if its good then its got its place up for sale on the shelfs if its bad it gets recalled and is never to be seen again but either way the product lable will disapear of the shelfs in future.
You could have a product that comes out but is waiting for a solution or a fix or even a technique to using it in fishing, e.g.  NASH amber strawberry boilies are useless in wales but! some clever cloggs figured it created a perfect cloud formation under water in the winter time creating a EXTREME-ATTRACT bait.

But the bait was useless and may aswell stopped selling in welsh tackle shops as it was wasting NASH'S money for  the production line.

Getting back to the point of line you have to know whats good and whats not.

There are many diferant colours of line and differant types to make it easy we are going to get to the point and tell you straight what is good.
Flurocarbon In depth
Ok so to begin:
Monoline: OK (COARSE AND SEA)
BRAID: OK (COARSE AND OTHERS)
HYDRO: OK (CARP AND SEA)
H20 FILL:OK (CARP)
FLURO: GREAT (ALL GENRES)

so there you have a small list telling you what is good depending on the type of fishing genre you have taken up it will vary from differant enviroments you are fishing I would keep safe and have a spool of each one but do your research and watch videos to see what is needed for the enviroment you are up against.

Here is a video form KORDA tackle to show you what braid looks like under water as danny fairbrass explains but relating to all genres of fishing this video shows how important it is to make sure your line is camo to the enviroment and surrounding's and textures.

At the end of the day fellow anglers it is the effort you put into it is what you get out, if you cannot prepare to win you have prepared to loose.

Photography Important in fishing?

By Team AP
Should we be botherd about are camera or not ?

Well it is all dependent on whether you actually take pictures of your catches or not, if not then dont bother reading this blog and go play some games in the arcade :), if you do then read on.

For many years anglers have been taking pictures of there fish and uploading them to websites or to there pc for storage or if your really old fashioned you get prints from the photo shop :D

What camera should you be using for fishing ?

I wouldnt stress over mega pixels when it comes to buy a camera for fishing, if you notice today a big selling point is mega pixels well believe it or not they are not so important :O its the lense and focus that is important on the new cameras as they focus the image and make it look really professional and all that neat stuff.

What camera should you buy now?

Whatever one you want as we are all lucky enough today to have digital cameras that have settings and menu's that can be changed so all is ok you dont have to throw out your tesco value camera yet.

The best images are the still ones, when I say still I mean the ones with a camera man who does not shake when holding there camera an example of a perfect picture is:

feb 06 017.jpg

As you can see the picture has turned out nice and smooth and all has gone well.

I am not sure what camera was use for this but I am sure it was a digital one.

So fellow anglers do not worry about your camera stick with the crapy tesco one but make sure to fiddle with the settings.

:D
