**NEW** Fish'n'Tips Magazine REVIEW

By Team AP

tackle tart.JPG
So this is the thing I am walking through bridgend town like I would everyday and pop into greggs for a pasty then make my way over to W.H.Smiths to have a browse at the carp fishing mags as I usually buy Crafty Carper, Carpology, Carp Talk but this time I am knocked out with Fish'n'tips, not because Matt Hayes has left TFG to Korda or John Wilson is actually Rod Hutchinson's Mum but because some women is holding a replica two tone carp and all I can see is Fish'n'Tits.

"IS IT WORTH £3.99?? When you pay £3.99 for a months acces on a porn site?"

fish'n'tips
Now I am going to put this straight out there, Diem Clothing was the first too put women into carp fishing and if you think different then please say so but its a fact that the first full page advert was by DIEM Girls, obviously all of these poor marketed company's are going to jump on the band wagon as they cannot think of anything better but to use Tits to advertise there products as this is a proven method that was tested using the online video Giant You Tube, it is the loop hole but only for a while and that is a short while soooo when john on peg 5 going for the 50lb is not getting enough of it from hi Mrs he has to buy a fishing magazine to keep him occupied ;)

But getting to the point this advertising scheme will die down very soon when a company has the guts to show full blown Tits and fanny, sorry if fish'n'tipsKids are reading this but this is very true and sad for the fishing market as we are turning into the Americans with there bass fishing.

A lot of anglers go on about korda having a good marketing system and that is why people buy from them because of Ali Hamidi and his uni degrees well I am sorry but Korda never use anything in there advertising that will carry minds away from the product, I have looked at the fish'ntips magazine and yes I believe it will sell very well but for how long?

I really do not understand how food, fake maggots, cloned carp, fat anglers on the bank, school and whatever else has to do with beautiful women? Clothing yes I understand that its looks 10x better on women as they have the right curves but really fake maggots???

"Good magazine?....Yeah ok, whatever you say"

So when we took a glance and basically judged a book by its cover we thought it was pretty crap but after taking this mag with me to France for a week it actually dawned on me that it was a very good magazine and is what carp fishing and any other sort of fishing has been waiting for, not only does it make you dribble but also feeds your brain well needed knowledge about everyday angling and life with the stars, I cannot see korda, shimano, esp, diem jumping on the ,magazine as advertisers yet, why you may say? well since the magazine is a massive change and a lot of other mags tend to aim for a mixed market of young and old where this is more of the 20-40 year old and that is a very small group compared to what other mags would target so there for these huge company's will not be very interested but also do not want to ruin there image with boobs but in time will come around, you have probably noticed that FOX are in the mag well please don't think they are a sponsor as all the anglers are employees by fox or should i say consultants :)

Now back to good points as much as the negative sucks me in, it brings a new template to the shelves and give the fishing market a bit more confidence with bigger balls physically ;) this will be nothing but great for carp fishing as other young minded anglers will now be pushed forward to produce there new ideas or host championships as it makes us more proud of what we can do.

I like the element of fun in the magazine such as the page like fishing hoaxes where it looks outside the box talking about things you never knew such as the BBC pranking the world by putting some headphones on a fish tank to make fisherman think they should take there Walkman to every lake they go as it will increase catch rate :p crazy or what!

Obviously its nice to looks at the girls no one is going to lie but if you look at the first page in you will see the chief editor he has a bit of weight and is not so nice to look at but by far is he one of the best writers we have seen to date as his sections feel like hes in front of you talking you can just grasp what sort of attitude he has and when he is giving it the gab, I really liked the internal competitions they had using a telescopic rod and seeing who could catch the most.

All in all is new and I am sure we will see massive change and improvement, this magazine was needed but they need to get there dosages right first and then there laughing.

Is it really worth £3.99?

Anglers Profile Social 2010

By Team AP
 Anglers Profile - Carp Fsihing
Anglers Profile Winter Social raises the bar.

Many socials are held around the uk by different groups and company's, but how many socials have 15 sponsors and every angler gets free food every day and in the evening gathering around with all other anglers to watch the rugby... Well this social had all of this, everyone arrived on the 19th of November 10am, within the social we added a charity match for the Cardiff children care unit so there would be some sort of fun within the event, there was a mix of anglers and it was looking tough as they were all top men from around the country including Nash very own Alan Price, the location was white springs fishery, Swansea, south wales, this fishery is famous for holding some top quality fish from all sizes ranging from early 10lb to big 42lb carp, as you can imagine everyone was itching to fish and get the chance of bagging a big fish and taking gold.

The Event lasted 48hours and you can bet it was 48hours of pure enjoyment, on the fishing side there wasn't really much showing and the anglers were all hitting it hard with all sorts so the social really did take into place as all anglers were at one of the main cabins on both nights either having a drink and a catch up or watching the rugby and even though wales lost and there was still no fish the smile was still present, Vince the fishery owner visited daily with his charity bucket, raffle tickets were sold, sponsorship forms were collected kindly, white springs really is a perfect location as it has maximum security assuring all anglers there cars and gear is safe and all facilitys are on site.

Plenty of bream was pulled out unfortunately but i guess its a fish, only 4 carp were caught size ranging between 12lb-14lb so not very big but on a Sunday morning a few hurs before the horn sounds its good enough to win it all, Gareth Davies caught 3 and Michael rob caught 1, Gareth won the event getting himself £100 and loads of goodies, michael rob won himself £75 along with his goodies, 3rd place was donated to charity, raffle prizes included products from Korda, Hinders, Pro-logic.

On site was the Anglers Profile super car which will be traveling the UK 2011 to all different shows such as the carpin'on show and all other local shows near you.

Throughout the 48hours main sponsor Lewis pies gave free pies, pasty's, rissoles, sausage rolls you name it everyone had one free along with some real crisps, other sponsors gave prizes for the raffle and winning positions and Anglers Profile would like to thank all sponsors for helping out and the kind hospitality from Vince white springs for the free cuppa ;)

Anglers Profile has seen a dream like many other people but this weekend we showed everyone a vision of what is to come, here at anglers profile we really want to help welsh carp fishing and we know a lot of mega carp fishing company are with us but we also see the bigger picture.

Mr Robbins a new member of Team AP who will shortley recieve his hoody after earning the respect of AP Corp took me Ben Phillips out for a day on the Blue Dolphin also know as jay's boat, I goto jays house to pick him up at 8.30 we headed of to the tackle shop but realised we forogt the moneySo we headed back to get it and then got our bait, Sand eal, bluey, makrel, squid all good stuf for the monster fish lerking around Swansea waters, we set out sail and jay using his gps router took us to some private marks that only he and his crew know, he wouldnt give out too much details for obvious reasons, we got out 20 miles and got the rods out over the boat, Jay went through some tips with me as I am a carp boy it was a bit differant maybe a bit to ruff for you other carpers, I slung the bait over the boat and jay did straight away we pulling the doggys in, infact we were ragging them in as they kept taking our makrel but enough about doggys time went on we were chilling eating bacon listining to the radio having a good chat, then we started to pull more doggys in with whateva bait we used there was a doggy then the whiteing started to bite but no big ones we were just pulling all rods in I had 2 doggys on my last one:

Were jay had something very speacial on his rod, not only does it have a shell but also a crushing claw and weighing in at 6.9lb making an exspensive meal......LE LOBSTER.

So after a good day of catching fish and shell fish ;D we decided to pack up head back to the marina scrub the boat down and head to the fish mongers ;D.

24 Hours at Whelford pools 06/02/2010

By swansea carper (Team AP)

Picture 010.jpgPicture 007.jpgPicture 009.jpgPicture 002.jpgPicture 005.jpgPicture 001.jpgFriday 06.02.2010. As me and Luke hayes were spose to be going to do a 24hour at linears fishery, Left my house at 5am and on my way to pick luke up..when i got to lukes we quickly loaded his gear onto my van and made our way to Linears, leavin lukes at 5.30Am after traveling about 1 hour and 30 mins we stoped in the services to meet up with 1 of the other boys Chris. which then we stoped had a quick cup of coffee and a bacon roll.. so then on our way about hour later we got there.. ad a walk around oxlease no pegs available so then we decidied to go have a look at hunts corner same again packed out.. so then we jumped back in our vans and made our way over to manor and st johns which at that point wen we arrived there we knew we were in trouble as iv never seen it so busy.. not 1 peg available on manor. so we decided to go have a look at st johns same again packed but with the od peg here and there, but after speakin to this guy he told us that there was a pike match on the day after so then from that point we knew that is not happening and decided to give whelford a ring to see if it was busy there, once i phoned and spoke 2 rose she said theress 6 on, so we decided to go there instead. so on our way to whelford pools when we arrived and had a walk around the lake, me and luke decided to fish the 2 pegs on the top part of the lake by the point as chris decided to fish where the lake is split and theres a small chanel where the fish can move into both parts of the lake.. so after choosing our pegs we went and got our gear after a hour or two we were all set up and fishing, i was trying out my new grange bait and luke was fishing with cell and fusion. after feeding the tree lined far margin with chopes i got my 1st rod ouit there, my rig was a safe zone clay leeda with a korda iq d rig hook link with a 2 oz pear lead, my 2nd rod was in the centre of the lake where i fed a small bit of partiblend on a patch of silt where i used a safe zone leada silt with a 2 oz pear lead and a 6 inch amnesia hooklink with a size 8 wide gape, so for about 2 hours nothing atall happening on the whole lake just 1 fella catching, so just b4 11pm i brought the rod from the far margin and rebaitied with a 14m grange boilie with a piece of plastic yellow corn, also put a cheesy tuna stick on with it and got it back out there. then i had my last cupa of the nite and decided to get my head down.. and then 3am in the morning i was awaken by the sound of my lovely delkim lol screaming run, gets out of the bivvy with out my boots on ( feet were soakin ) strikes into the fish, and yes hes on =, felt a good fish with after playing the fish 10 minutes later he was in the net wieghing 20lb 6oz well chuffed :)  after taking a few photos i rebaited and got the bait back out there, woke up about 8 the following morning makes my way over to luke to see if he fancied a cupa. after our tea and biscuits chris come around for a chat with me then all the sudden lukes alarm scramed off, looked over and there he was rod in the air playing a fish, makes my way over and watched luke while hes playing the fish, after a good fight the fish was in the net wieghing a stunning 21lb 4oz... pucka.. at that time we were both very happy that we both baged a nice 20lber each great 24 hours.. unfortunatly chris didnt have any luck but still enjoyed a 24 hours fishing at whelford.. cheers tight lines!

Top 5 Tips form team AP Carp expert's.

By Team AP

PART 1

Team AP Top 5 Tips for catching carp all around the year.
Team AP has been carp fishing for over 100 years with age combined and one thing it has always had to take into consideration is all round hard working baits that are going to guarantee success for a day session of 2 hours to a week session.

There are many different ways to present bait these days, whether you use pva stringers or stick mix, you may like to use the kick-ass! Hook baits you may be one to go off the top with the original bread and dog biscuits, at the end of the day it’s what floats your boat and gets the fish on the bank is what matters.

Team AP have never had the selfish streak that many other anglers may have on the touchy subject on the bank revolving on the dreaded question "what bait you using m8?" some anglers do not like to discuss their bait or methods as they mentally think if someone else knows there tricks it will reduce catch rates for themselves, this is nothing more than a load of silt.

Anglers should discuss their baits with others to observe there fishing an see were the bait may work so the next time you’re on the bank you know where the hot spot for that particular bait is or instead of wasting good time farting about putting a different method together let the other angler use the method they are using and see if that has success then go see what the anglers method is, I am sure they will be more than happy to let you have a browse since you did let them in on the goods.

SO! let’s get these 5 great tips for this year going, please take note of these tips and put them to use, we will be shocked if no one gets a catch on at least 2 of these tips.

TIP #1
Tip's lips: Ben Phillips
Team AP

CATCH THE CARP, DONT GET CAUGHT YOURSELVE.
What do I mean by this? well allot of our may have been told this by a fellow angler who has been in the sport for a long period of time, it doesn’t take a bright spark to work out the motive drive behind carp fishing of some anglers or what I should say is business men.
Many products on the shelf’s these days are there to catch your eye and sell to you, these may be products we do not really need or they could be products that we use every day in and out.
Colour, design, words are the biggest part of marketing e.g. ROBIN RED JUICY BOILIES, 99% SUCESS RATE, NO STEAMING NO BOILING NO MICROWAVE, MATT HAYES SAYS ITS GREAT.

Let’s have a look at this sentence above; well juicy brings foods and drink to mind that you may have yourself everyday so if you love it why wouldn’t the fish? 99% success rate of what?? 99% success rate of complete boilies of the line??? No loss of nutrition because they don’t steam or microwave or boil?? What chemicals do they use if they don’t cook them?? Popular star in the trade says there great?? Hmmm ye they look great meaning they aren’t so great in the water?
So getting back to the point of you catching the fish don’t let the angler catch you really brings this into place which is why you have to be careful with the baits or tackle you buy, stick with KORDA, FOX, MAINLINE, DYNAMITE as these guys have well established names but also have feedback on the bank yes you have to try some things and they might not be so good but try not to waste your time with business driving back round’s for example pure fishing are probably the only company I can think of that are able to drive millions of pounds into a sub company sponsoring everything and anything and then shut the sub company down after 4/5 years in a particular genre of fishing that was making big sales, it all about feedback at the end of the day, whatever you do not read forums and take their word as anyone can sign up and say another product is rubbish.

This has got to be one of the most important tips for the anglers sake and has got to be stressed to all anglers and is through the media as well, there is an advert by angling trust saying most anglers spend £120 + a year the best anglers spend £25 or less which is not so true but is true in the aspect of anglers getting sucked into the "you need this!" market, please stick to what you know and what is good do your research before you buy.
Ben Phillips

TIP #2
Tip's Lip's: Roy Thomolson
Team AP/Glamorgan Champion

DONT GETS STUCK IN THE SHILT!

By the heading don’t get stuck in the silt I don’t mean the silt on its own but I am talking about environments under neath the water surface, why is this important? well believe it or not a fish is like a human, it prefers to be on the sunny side of things, in the fishes case it likes to live on a different surface area to the others whether its gravel instead of silt or its silt instead of gravel and for others vice versa e.g. clay, mud.

So why it is best to hit these so called "HOT SPOTS" well it obviously increases catch rates, why put your hook in a hay stack when you can put it in the spot light?

I think enough has been said about the spots and all that but how are you going to find those dam spots? well there is a range of different ways, here is a few listed:

Knowledge of lake structure<<<<<
Marker float<<<<<<<< Good
Bait boat sonar<<<<<< Very accurate
Polarised glasses <<<<
Google earth<<<<<<<

As you can see I have listed 3 obvious ones but Google has got to be the new edition to the family of fishing research as it is producing some pretty hot pictures of lakes and sea beds also letting you have a print out so you can plan out your casting points while you are at the lake or sea, river whatever, Knowledge of lake structure is the bad boy to know out of them all for sure as this can only be obtained from the start of the lake's construction, asking the bailiff or fishery manager for a landscape tour would be advised if available or offer is there.

So lads and lasses don’t get caught up with bait tunnel vision, open the big picture and do your lake research of area and I am sure your success rate will go up, remember every 0.001% counts.
Roy Thomlson.

48 hours at White Springs

By Team AP

White springs a massive lake complex catering for all ages, sizes, people.... whatever,
'Britain’s No1 Fishery'

White Springs is basically an awesome fishery and has a good background with the proud owner VINCE the man J

“BEN get the Net!”

Roy and I headed off at 11am Monday morning 28th December to tackle and conquer the pleasure lake hiring one of Vince’s cabins for 48 hours as we could not be bothered with the bivvy due to the terrible conditions we were fishing in.

We arrived at white springs at 12.30 and set up getting the rods in the water in just under 5mins of being there, I was using cell 10mm boilies on the hair doubled up with a pva mesh bag containing cell pellets to give that great presentation when in the water making a scrumptious meal for a crafty carp, on my other rod I had a mainline fruitella pop up 10mm also with a bag of cell pellets but the rig was going through the bag to make sure that the pop up landed perfectly underwater on top of the pellets.

“Throw a high visual pop up on and let it all take place”

On the other hand Roy was using fake floating maize with a real piece of maize soaked in pva friendly liquids with a pva mesh bag (wide) of maize to give a meal bed of yellow maize, this way he was offering traditional high visual bait which was real and fake.

His other rod had pineapple juice pop ups from mainline on the rid with proactive pineapple pellets to see if the pineapple was up to any scratch in the cold winter conditions.

“5 A DAY WILL KEEP THE DOCTOR AWAY!”

1pm

I get up to a screamer on the cell, I strike into the fish and

Lose all control ending up in a snag :/

1.30pm

No activity around the lake, me and Roy are inside poor

Match anglers have got no hope, looks like tea and

Coffee is on me and Roy.

4pm

Roy has gone for a kip while I read this month’s crafty carper

Issue on the high visual section directed by

No other than the bait master Ali Hamidi.

“Time for a plan using Ali’s tips”

4.25pm

Sticking with the pop ups but now dipping the pellets in

The great cell dip J this should improve the scent.

4.40pm

Signs of carp gathering around baited area, keeping

The 10mm cell flowing slowly but steady

Max 20 spread per 20mins.

5pm

SCREAMER I am on with a good fight, nothing

Huge, but a healthy fish, on the bank!!

5.05pm

Weighing in at 9lb

6pm

The snow is coming down now and we don’t seem

To be getting anything it looks dead out there

Just had a chat to one of the lads over the other lake (DJ Carp Father)

I and Roy are knackered Ill update u whenever next bite comes.

2.30am

Just got up for a screaming run again but dam Japanese fluro carbon snapped

Not amused :/

3am

Roy just got a 4lb nothing much but it has scales, had it on

New fake baits he’s testing from Avalon fisheries (BTW Avalon fisheries suck)

4am

I’m on with a 7lb I cannot really be bothered to put rods back out lol

But I have to remember I have paid £47 lol for 48 hours.

4.30am

Got another one <<

 4.45

Just walked away from rod after getting it out, as soon as I locked cabin door

The bobbin is strangling the rod grrrr 6lb

5.05am

Getting board of doing this time thing I’m just gunna tell you what happened when trip is over.

Well I caught 67lb of fish in the end mostly in the night time on what’s now my favourite pop up in the world Mainline Fruitella lol I love it amazing with cell pellets.

Roy caught all of his on that Avalon fisheries fake sweet corn haha 30lb all together.

We only had 2 pictures through the whole trip lol as these were the only 2 fish we had in day time.

We will get you a report for the next trip.

Thank you to White Springs once again AP* Fisheries
